  • Histopathologic interpretation of routine histopathology, special stains, and immunoperoxidase stains is offered, as needed, as well as immunofluorescent studies.
  • Clinical pathologic correlation is emphasized in evaluating skin biopsies for medical dermatologic disease with close communication between dermatopathologists and clinicians.
  • Skin biopsies and excisions are evaluated for surgical margin involvement as needed for individual clinicians or surgeons.

    Dr. Antley graduated from the University of North Carolina, School of Medicine, received her training in anatomic and clinical pathology at Duke University Medical Center and completed her fellowship in dermatopathology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences under Dr. Bruce Smoller and Dr. Tom Horn. From 1998 to 2001, she practiced dermatopathology at the University of Vermont/Fletcher Allen Health Care, where she served as Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Antley is a member of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology and a Fellow in the American Society of Dermatopathology. She referees articles for the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology. Her publications include articles in peer review journals, book review and abstract publications.

    BRUCE R. SMOLLER, MD, Consulting Associate, Director of Dermatopathology, acting Chairman of the Pathology Department and Professor of Pathology and Dermatology, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Board Certified in Dermatopathology.
    Dr. Smoller received his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1983. He did a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. His fellowship in dermatopathology at Cornell University-New York Hospital led to an assistant professorship until 1990, when he joined the faculty at Stanford University Medical Center as director of the dermatopathology unit. He was promoted to full professor of pathology and dermatology in 1996. He joined UAMS in 1997 where he serves as Vice-Chairman of the Department of Pathology. The editor of the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, Dr. Smoller also has to his credit more than 140 publications, including books, articles, and chapters.

    THOMAS D. HORN, MD, Consulting Associate, Chairman, Department of Dermatology, Professor of Dermatology and Pathology, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Board Certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology.
    Dr. Horn graduated (Magna Cum Laude) from Davidson College and received a medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1982. His residency in dermatology at the University of Maryland was completed in 1987, and his fellowship in dermatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine was completed in 1989. He served as director of dermatopathology there before joining the University of Arkansas where he serves as Chairman of the Department of Dermatology. Dr. Horn has more than 50 publications to his credit.
